Project Ike Print E-mail
Tuesday, 28 October 2008

On October 28th, the Architecture 1 class started their group design projects. This year I have chosen for the class to design "Katrina Cottage" style houses to go into our "Project Ike" development. These houses are a small pre-fabricated house that can be delivered to a building site in response to a disaster.

The Class is divided into teams that work together to produce a design, detailed floor plan, foundation plan, roof plan, elevations and wall section. Then they will develop framing plans and build a scale balsa model of their design.

The project must be completed by Friday, Dec. 12th. The groups will present their design ideas to a panel of judges on Monday, Dec 15th.

The Civil Engineering class is designing the "Lake Ike" development complete with survey drawings, site plans, utilities, bridge and lake design.

The Architectural Solid Modeling class is creating 3-D rendering and animation of the overall project.
